Jerzy Janicki

http://www.jerzyjanicki.pl/

One of the most outstanding Polish film and TV screenwriters. A precursor of a new genre in the European radio. A writer and a playwright. A tireless singer and populariser of history, traddition and culture of Lwów and the Estern Borderland. Fanatically in love with the Bieszczady and their inhabitants. Jerzy Janicki's artistic output is incredibly various and multithreaded. One thing is certain - whichever side you approach him from - a reader, a listener or a spectator will find in his output a perfect workshop, an insightful observation of life and an unusual creative passion.

For the first time Jerzy Janicki came to the Biesczady in the 60s. From that time on continuously he has been comming back to this magical part of Poland. In the 80s he bought an estate in the city of Chmiel, in Lutowiska muncipality, which has become a second home to him and his family. It is in the Bieszczady, where the extensive screenplays have been created - among others to the tv show "Dom" and "Ballady o Januszku", and the Summer and Winter episodes of the radio novel "Matysiakowie" have been made by Otryt over the years.

The reality of the Bieszczady has been translated by Janicki to the language of prose, radio and cinema. Wide audience have seen it in the form of films, radio plays, such as "Hasło", "Wolna Sobota", and "Wesołych Świąt" and a collection of cult "Opowiadania bieszczadzkie" ("Password", "Free Saturday" and "Merry Christmas"; "Bieszczadian stories" - tranlsator's note).

The goals and the course of action of the Jerzy Janicki Foundation

The Jerzy Janicki Foundation was created in order to promote the past and create the future of Polish traddition, culture and art. It has been mentioned many times that Jerzy Janicki's output connects generations. That is why we want the idea and the core of his output to be recognised and comprehended equally by younger and older generations. And because of this the essential part of the Foundation's activity will be based on establishing cooperation and initiatin activities directed towards a young generation of creators, passionates and consumers of culture.

EKT-Gdynia

EKT-Gdynia is a brand which has been recognised and liked for 25 years now, by a third generation in a row. People who feel close to this true, moulded touristic song, and those for whom the sailing stare is as right as rain, will find in this band’s output satisfying words and tunes. EKT have published 5 CD albums, several cassettes, hard to say how many medleys, countless number of piracy records, some music videos, and many more or less dependent on the band records of their performance. Sound of this group is unconventional, strong, but also – when necessary – it sets the right air. The most important is what EKD do during their concerts – that’s a typical example of a band, whose presence and having fun with audience is an absolute priority! The musicians from EKT have always come from various parts of Poland (Gdynia, Wrocław, Łódź, Warszawa, Radom, Białystok, and other), but what never changes is their will to spend time in a useful way (in every possible meaning of this word), spend time with people and with one another. Music means fun to:

• Jan Wydra

• Ireneusz "Messalina" Wójcicki

• Jacek Fimiak

• Krzysztof Kowalewski

• Marcin "Ritus" Ritter

• Mark "Remik" Remiszewski (manager)

AtmAsfera

The group AtmAsfera is a surprising phenomenon on the Ukrainian stage. The band plays versatile ethnic music, with folk elements, coming from many countries all over the world, (from East to West), with Ukrainian and English texts, together with ancient language. They are constantly looking for new forms of expression, sounds, instruments, what makes every concert a surprising event, to which they devote themselves totally, to create the “atmasfere” of mutual contact between the musicians and the audience. They do not allow to close them in any frames or stereotypes. They try to express their feelings, thoughts and transfer them to their listeners. The name of the band is a cluster of two words: “atma”, which means a person, and “sfera” – space, which corresponds to what surrounds this person – her inner world of feelings and emotions. They have been playing since 2003. They performed upon many international festivals, most important of which are: Chervona Ruta (2005), Musical Ostrow (2006), Ethno Evolution (2006), Niv-rock (2006). They also participated in an international festival The Global Battle of the Bands 2007, they won the Ukrainian stage, and in the finale in London they won the fourth place. They have also played in Poland, among others at festivals in Warsaw: (Etno Cross Festiwal, Etniczne Inspiracje, Latający Holender) and several times at Przystanku Woodstock, where they have been awarded a prize of Złoty Bączek for the best concert upon the Folk Stage.

On 21 March there was a Polish premiere of their new album “Integro”.
